The summer season brings longer days, warmer weather, and the perfect opportunity to engage in enjoyable fitness activities outdoors. Instead of hitting the gym, why not make the most of the sunny days by trying out some fun and exciting exercises? In this blog, we'll explore seven fantastic fitness activities that will help you stay active, burn calories, and have a great time this summer.

1. Stand-Up Paddle boarding (SUP):

Take advantage of nearby lakes, rivers, or the coastline and try stand-up paddle boarding. SUP offers a unique full-body workout, engaging your core, arms, and legs while providing a fun balance challenge. Plus, gliding across the water surrounded by stunning scenery is an experience you won't soon forget!

2. Outdoor Yoga:

Step outside the confines of a yoga studio and embrace the beauty of nature. Practicing yoga outdoors not only allows you to breathe in fresh air but also enhances your connection with the environment. Find a peaceful spot in a park or beach, roll out your mat, and let the warm sun and gentle breeze enhance your yoga practice.

3. Frisbee Golf (Disc Golf):

Give traditional golf a twist by trying out frisbee golf, also known as disc golf. Similar to golf, but instead of clubs and balls, you use frisbees to navigate through a course with designated targets. Disc golf courses are often set in scenic parks or open spaces, allowing you to enjoy nature while engaging in a low-impact, full-body workout.

4. Hiking and Trail Running:

This is one of my favorite things to do, escape the urban hustle and immerse yourself in nature by going hiking or trail running. Research nearby trails and choose one that suits your fitness level; I like to find ones with waterfalls or ponds where you can cool off in summer. Not only will you enjoy breathtaking views and fresh air, but you'll also strengthen your leg muscles and boost your cardiovascular health. Remember to bring water, sunscreen, and a good pair of shoes! Search my hiking blogs to learn more.

5. Outdoor Circuit Training:

Take advantage of parks or open spaces to create your own outdoor circuit training routine. Incorporate exercises like push-ups, lunges, squats, and burpees. Use benches or picnic tables for step-ups and tricep dips. This versatile workout will challenge your entire body while soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the surroundings

6. Bike Riding:

Dust off your bicycle and hit the open road or explore local bike trails. Cycling is a low-impact exercise that improves cardiovascular fitness, strengthens your lower body, and increases stamina. Whether you choose a leisurely ride or an intense uphill challenge, biking offers an excellent way to stay fit and explore your surroundings.

7. Kayaking or Canoeing:

Take to the water and enjoy the tranquility of kayaking or canoeing. Find a nearby lake, river, or even the ocean where you can rent a kayak or canoe. Paddling provides an excellent workout for your upper body, core, and cardiovascular system while allowing you to explore scenic waterways and observe nature up close. It's a refreshing and peaceful activity that combines fitness and adventure.

This summer, break free from the monotony of indoor workouts and explore these fun fitness activities that will keep you active, energized, and engaged.
